Terms of Service
Last updated: February 13, 2026
We've written these terms in plain English because we believe you shouldn't need a lawyer to understand how a service works. By using StoryVault, you agree to these terms.
Your Account
- You need to create an account to use StoryVault. Please use accurate information when you sign up.
- You're responsible for keeping your password secure. We recommend using a strong, unique password.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use StoryVault. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
- One person per account, please. Don't share your login credentials with others — invite them as family members instead.
- If you notice any unauthorized access to your account, please contact us immediately at support@storyvault.app.
Your Content
This is the most important part:
- You own everything you create on StoryVault. Your stories, your scans, your recordings, your memoir — they're all yours.
- We never claim ownership over your content. We never will.
- You give us a limited license to store, process, and display your content — but only so we can actually run the service for you. If you delete your content or your account, that license ends.
- You can export your content at any time in standard formats (text, PDF, EPUB, DOCX).
- Please don't upload content that belongs to someone else without their permission, or content that is illegal or harmful.
Our Service
- We work hard to keep StoryVault running smoothly, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime. Occasional maintenance and outages may occur.
- We use AI to help transcribe your handwritten pages and voice recordings, organize your stories, and generate your memoir. AI isn't perfect — always review the output and make corrections as needed.
- We may update, improve, or change features over time. We'll do our best to notify you about significant changes.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Acceptable Use
StoryVault is built for preserving personal and family stories. Please use it respectfully:
- Don't use StoryVault to store or distribute illegal content.
- Don't attempt to hack, disrupt, or overload our systems.
- Don't use automated tools to scrape or extract content from the service.
- Don't impersonate others or create accounts for fraudulent purposes.
- Be respectful in any shared or collaborative spaces.
Payments & Refunds
- StoryVault offers free and paid plans. You can see current pricing on our pricing page.
- Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly, depending on what you choose. Yearly plans are billed as a single annual payment.
- You can cancel your subscription at any time. You'll keep access to paid features until the end of your current billing period.
- We don't offer refunds for partial billing periods, but if you're unhappy, please reach out — we'll do our best to make it right.
- If we increase prices, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and the option to cancel before the new price takes effect.
- Your stories remain accessible even after cancellation — you just won't have access to paid features.
Changes to These Terms
- We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top.
- For significant changes, we'll notify you by email or through a notice in the app at least 30 days before they take effect.
- If you continue using StoryVault after changes take effect, you agree to the updated terms.
- If you don't agree with the changes, you can close your account and export your data.
Limitation of Liability
We provide StoryVault "as is." While we do our best to keep everything running well and your data safe, we can't be held liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding any claim.
